This long weekend has been particularly good just because there was a ABC radio program running a vote on music. It’s called Triple J Hottest 100 in 20 Years.

These songs are already there and I heard most of them (well I will double check that after I get the spotifly song list). What makes me happy is just “identify them” and “put the event in a nice but artificial context (hottest 100)”.

Two things to learn for me as a teacher:

  • The trick to a successful lesson is to let students experience all beautiful things already there. No need to reinvent things and it takes too much effort.
  • If you were from overseas like me, seize the moment and improve your cultural understanding towards Australians’ music taste. Then you may have better luck in picking good Chinese music for your Australian students.

I can’t believe I know the WINNER (I usually don’t follow this kind of thing) so well and it’s already in my spotify lists.

As Sherwood and Oak transform into true 1:1 iPad schools, one of the biggest obstacles continues to be “work flow”. Everyone wants to know the best way of making class handouts accessible to students so they can read and annotate them on an iPad. Some are also starting to collect student work, grade it, then pass it back again. We’ll cover how to do this last part in a future tech tip.
